Shop is Closed

Well, it is official. Sad, but true.
I have shut the door on my shop in downtown Aylmer.
Don't visit my home either, there is no room to sit. I'm pretty sure I may have buried my husband somewhere in the kitchen under 40-odd bins of stash and old stock. He is either under there or has left for roomier dwellings.
"Hey! You forgot me!" I think that was one of my girls.
Now I am wonderfully nested in stash!
Already quilt class ideas are twirling about.
See the lightening? Can you hear the thunder?
It's a brain storm!
I'll keep you posted on times and places.

March/April Quilting Class

Spring Love
I've really led this class as a mystery class. Each new 'block' has been revealed just as we needed it.
When last the class looked, there was the centre and the Winged Flying Geese at the top, only. I've just added all of the other components minus the last bit of appliqué on the right side.
(Don't tell them about the yo-yo's just yet)
I've played with the idea of adding a little heart between our spring-love date-ers. You see; Betty-Sue and Robby-Sam are open to getting to know one another in this setting; that's why they are facing each other.
I'm quite pleased with the overall look of this wall hanging as it is progressing.

Quilters for Fond Farewell Quilts

Here are JoAnne, Debbie and Coby working on the Fond Farewell Quilts for Elgin Quilters' Guild.

JoAnne steadily quilted on the quilt in the frame. Later, Coby helped her there.

Coby helped arrange the blocks and Debbie helped find fabrics to use for posts and sashing.

We were able to construct two more quilt tops out of the blocks made by our guild members.

I will add the borders this week and we will be ready to quilt them together!!

Elgin Quilters' Quilting Bee

Elgin Quilters!
May I remind you to come in to my shop March 5 in the afternoon for our 'Fond Farewell' Quilting Bee!
We will be adding posts and sashing to the 12 1/2" blocks already donated, making a few more tops to prepare for quilting. And we will work on quilts in the frames!

What is a Fond Farewell Quilt?
A Fond Farewell Quilt is given to a Home for the Aged to keep and re-use. When a recently deceased resident leaves their room and the building, they are usually in a black bag on a stretcher. A bit shocking, no doubt.
We hope that covering the recently departed in a Fond Farewell Quilt can give comfort to neighbours and friends as they see the stretcher go down the hall and out of the building.
We also hope this helps other residents to be able to say a Fond Farewell to their friend.

Scarves for Friends Workshop

Postponed to February 9th.

Usually on the first Wednesday afternoon and evening of each month is a "Workshop" day; but this month there is a huge:
SNOW SQUALL WARNING!!!
And really, who wants to drive in that?!?!

Choose afternoon or evening times:
2pm to 4pm or
6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Only $20 plus materials for this Workshop. Sewing machine required.

You will come away with a practical pattern to repeat the scarf again and again.

Isn't it nicer to say Scarves for Friends than Cancer Hat?

Sign up ASAP! Classes are filling quickly!

I like this hat in crazy wild 100% cotton prints.
Only about a half of a metre of fabric is necessary and a bit of elastic.

The Winter Project

I added the Prairie Points to my Octagon shaped Mystery Winter Quilt Project.
What do you think?
I like that the green points kind of look like pine trees around my Winter scenes.
I could have made a tree skirt out of this, if I had moved my two snowmen further apart and cut between them to the centre.
